Start Date: As soon as possible.

The successful candidate will provide direct and consultative services to the school-age population with speech and language delays and disorders and related concerns. Responsibilities will include providing education and training to parents, associated professionals, and paraprofessionals regarding speech and language development and disorders. The SLP will work in collaboration with other disciplines (Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Student Services Coordinators) to provide comprehensive team services. This position will be based within the K to 12 school system. The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division.

Desired Q u alifications :

  • Masters degree, or equivalent, in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Eligible for registration with SASLPA.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Motivation to work both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and assessment skills.
  • Interest in children and associated speech and language delays and disorders.

Dut ie s ( m ay in c lude but a re not limited to the following ) :

  • Collaborate in transition needs of students with communication needs.
  • Participate in school-based screening of students new to a school.
  • Communicate with school personnel and parents regarding individual assessment and programming. This includes but is not limited to needs associated with communication delays and disorders, as well as intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, sensory impairment, behavioural issues or learning disabilities.
  • Provide direct, small group, and large group intervention and instruction.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, students, and community agencies regarding the communication needs of students.
  • Provide staff development and training and assist with program monitoring and evaluation.
